What is the treatment prescribed?
The treatment involves the regular application of an FDA approved drug to the base of your eyelashes. This eyelash solution is FDA approved for treatment of hypotrichosis (meaning inadequate eyelashes).
How do I apply it?
The treatment is applied to the base of each eyelid once daily. Our consultants will teach you the precise method of applying the treatment in order to minimize any side effects.
What results can I expect?
By promoting and prolonging the growth phase of your eyelashes, the treatment will result in longer, thicker and darker eyelashes.
How soon will I see results?
Medical studies show that most patients see results within 8 weeks, and that the best effects are after continuous application for 16 weeks. However, some of our patients have reported visible results after just 2 weeks of application.
Can I get this treatment from beauty salons or without a prescription?
Beware of other copycat products which have similar drugs in them that do not require a doctor’ prescription. Some of them actually contain pharmaceutical products, and some of the companies that manufacture these are currently being sued by Allergan, the company that manufactures this product. In addition, as doctors who understand the medical nature of this product, we do not recommend that it be used without a thorough screening to ensure safety. To date, our treatment remains the ONLY FDA Approved treatment for eyelash growth.
Are there side effects to this treatment?
The most common side effects are an itching sensation in the eyes and/or eye redness, which was reported in approximately 4% of patients. Other less common side effects include skin darkening, eye irritation, dryness of the eyes, and redness of the eyelids. However, we will instruct you based on our experience prescribing this to patients on the correct techniques to apply the treatment in order to minimize these side effects.
What if I accidentally apply the treatment into my eye? Is it dangerous?
This is an ophthalmological product which was originally designed as an eye drop. If you accidentally get it into your eye, it is not expected to cause harm. You should NOT rinse the eye.
